The Broward Contra Dance

   at the River of Grass Unitarian Universalist Congregation Hall

           11850 West State Rd. 84 (Between Flamingo Rd & Hiatus)

                            Live Acoustic Dance Music!

    Traditional and Contemporary  uptempo reels, jigs and waltzs

                  will get you and your friends moving and groovin! 

             Group dancing in South Florida has never been more fun.

      Great exercise in an alcohol-free and smoke-free family environment

         If you can walk, then you can contradance--it is easy to learn 

         Singles, couples, students, seniors, beginners – everyone is welcome.

Dances are walked thru with a caller before dancing

If you are new, please join us for the new dancer's set at 7:30.

Contra dancing is from 8:00 till 11:00

Suggested donation: Adults $10, Students with ID $5, Family $25

Hints: Wear comfortable, non-marking shoes and be fragrance free - no heavy colognes or perfumes please...but ....anti-perspirants/deodorants are appreciated, dancing is a real workout!

Bring A Snack to Share ...we usually have a table full of goodies

Directions From I-95: take I-595 West, exit at Flamingo Road ---At exit light Turn left/ -- do a U-turn under 595 onto State Road 84 heading east, get in right lane, go only .4 mile (about 30-40 seconds), turn right into first strip mall, the 595 Park of Commerce, at "Business Entrance" Sign - River of Grass UU Church is in the first suite on the left, more parking is around to the side of the church

From I-75 North or South- or the Sawgrass Expressway,

Exit I-75 onto I-595 eastbound, Exit at Flamingo Road -- go straight through intersection, crossing Flamingo Road, stay on SR 84 heading east only .4 mile, to small strip mall (595 Park of Commerce) on the right side of road per directions above

From Florida's Turnpike(SR 91), take the I-595 exit heading west, same directions as from I-95, above: U Turn under 595 at Flamingo Rd, go only .4 mile , turn right into small strip of stores at Business Entrance sign, into (595 Park of Commerce), church on the left.

More Landmarks for the directionally impaired: Church is off of State Road 84 which is ONE WAY going EAST, in the first strip mall ---most people go by it. After Flamingo, be ready to turn right at the "business entrance" sign after 30-40 seconds of driving. If you come to the big shopping center at Hiatus (with a Winn Dixie), you passed it----- you have to do a U-turn at Hiatus go west to Flamingo and u-turn again.

Our goal is to get enough players  to create a South Florida contra-orchestra for a January mega-band dance, and have back up players to fill in for seasonal vacancies in our local dances. The dance must go on!
